The sun is rising a little earlier in the morning and setting later in the evenings. The clear skies and sunny days mean that we are treated with beautiful soft pinks, purples and oranges as the sun rises and sets. Flowers are slowly starting to unwind from winter and we seeing more vibrant colours on the ground and in the trees. Daffodils (Narcissus), bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta), and snowdrops (Galanthus) are common sightings this time of year so be sure to look out for them. Above the flower beds the first cherry trees (Prunus) are blossoming, attracting wildlife such as the first honey bees.

Garden tips:

It is a good time to start thinking about lawn maintenance. It is especially a great time to lay new turf, if you have decided to give your garden well deserved maintenance. When applying a new turf it is very important to keep it watered and not to dry out. As the weather isn’t so hot, in the high 20’s like in summer, spring is a perfect time to get the new lawn down as water can be used efficiently and won’t dry out too quickly.
