Sometimes it is necessary to reduce the thickness of the tree’s crown by removing some of the branches. The result will be a more balanced density of the tree and removes the danger or weak or damaged branches. A maximum of 30% of the crown is removed, as to not put unnecessary stress to the tree. For larger trees this will allow more light into the area, improve wind flow, avoiding potential damage caused from strong winds and removal of branches that are rubbing together. For smaller trees this is a part of formative pruning to shape the tree for future and healthy growth.

This is the process where limbs are partially or fully removed at the lower sections of the crown in order to create an even branch structure. We do not remove any large lower branches that extend directly from the trunk as this could affect the overall health of the tree. This is thought to be less stressful to the tree and a large lift is done over a few years. With trees that have an extra large trunk diameter it is not recommended to lift the crown as this could potentially cause rot. We would suggest thinning the lower branches in this case.

Our expertise make us the perfect tree surgeons to remove a tree from your property. This may be necessary if the tree is diseased and requires safe and appropriate removal. Damage from storms or strong winds may have damaged the tree, or if it has out grown the space and can cause risk to your property. Disturbance from tree roots on property and buildings is also another common cause for tree removal. If a tree is in a Tree Preservation Orders(PTO) then there are specific requirements from the council what can be done to the tree. This will require a planning application to be made before any action can be taken. This can be done by us on behalf of you and we can work to achieve the best results.

This is the method of trimming trees to a maintained size and shape. There are a few reasons to Pollard a tree and not all trees can be pruned in this way. The main one is to regenerate the tree and to maintain a shape that is appropriate for the space it is in. Some trees such as Chesnut’s and Weeping Willows need to be Pollarded in order to maintain a healthy tree.

We provide quick and efficient hedge trimming to maintain a certain structure and shape. This is best done between autumn and spring, as we do not want to disturb any birds that may be nesting in the hedges in the warmer months. We can come at regular intervals throughout the year, at least once is recommended but two is ideal to maintain perfect shape.

Stump grinding is one of the most challenging jobs as this involves a large machine to grind away the hedge or tree stump. It is not always certain how long it will take due to the different sizes and properties of the wood, but we leave the space clear and tidy. Please talk to us if you are looking to remove a stump in your property and we will be happy to speak to you about it.
