It doesn’t matter how big your garden is, you can always make a big impact with what you have. Sometimes having a smaller space is better for your lifestyle as having a big garden requires a lot of maintenance and commitment. It is always good to make the most of what you have so even if you a something small but mighty like a balcony off of your flat, you can make something very spectacular. The first tip is to know your space, by this, observe how much sunlight you get and for how long in the day. This will indicate what type of plants you will need. For example many plants love as much sunlight as possible, however there are some plants that need a lot more shade, ferns (Tracheophyta) for example. Next see what soil type you have and see if you need to add some more nutrients or to balance the ph. Again there are some plants that love rocky soil for example so put plants that have the best chance of surviving.

Here are some tips on how to make the most of your small garden:

  1. Add mirrors, reflecting light and making the illusion of more space.

  2. Plant vertically. Think New York but in plant style, if you cant go out then go up.

  3. Remove bushes and other larger greenery that isn’t making you or your garden happy.

  4. You can pot almost any plants in moveable pots. From cherry trees to beautiful flower full pots, they are handy to change things up a bit and always keep it interesting.

  5. Think carefully with your garden furniture and make it practical. Can it be folded away and if not, can it double up as storage.

  6. Group plants and coloured flowers that match together to create zones. This will allow you to have different spaces that you can enjoy in the garden.

So what ever the size, you can have fun with it. If you would like any garden services we are always here to call for a quote at Pollard Tree Care
